I would take the resident to my office to talk with them and calm them down prior to returning them to the activity in which was agitating the resident. If the resident refused to calm down, then I would have them remain with me 1 on 1 in my office until he/she was calm all the while talking with him/her about what may be bothering them. Then I would give them choices as to what he/she wanted to do i.e. return to the activity, their room, tv area, or stay with me in my office as "my assitant" for the day. I am a very calm person myself so it comes easy to me to be able to calm others just from my way of words, body language, and suggestions so that the resident had choices in regards to their actions and him/her learning coping methods when a situation in the future arises that may become upsetting to them. I believe my easy going and friendly manor is an excellent skill to have that allows me to get along well with others even if they are upset. I am able to work individually or as a team as well and strive to represent the company in a positive manor. Less

I would again assist them to my office, calmly speak with them, and explain to them about the geriatric hospitals that would be of great help to them. I would then contact the hospital and send over my referral request and set up transportation arrangements for the resident with the help of their family members. The resident would remain on 15 minute checks until able to be transferred to the hospital for treatment as needed. If the resident is combative, then I kept them with me in my offfice away from other residents so that they couldn't harm themselves or others, including staff or other residents. Less
