My guess: 40 cents-vowels cost 20 cents. 2 vowels x 20 cents
↳
The $0.20 a vowel theory seems credible, but the question is set up as a word problem, not a logic or maths problem, so it is unfair for them to expect this answer. If the problem had stated: "If APPLE = $0.40 and BANANA = $0.60, then what does GRAPEFRUIT equal?", then the question would be more viable. Otherwise, what the hell has the price of an apple to do with the price of a banana; it's like comparing apples to oranges ; ) Less

Probably based on number of letters

Since I have never been a Linux SysAdmin responsible for isolating performance problems, I did not know. I described how I would do it in Windows, but the interviewer seemed unimpressed. Less

They're looking for tools such as iostat, netstat, and top. Those are CLI tools which can show what's happening on a server. There are also MongoDB command line tools such as mongostat and mongotop, although those are Mongo tools, not Linux tools. Less

What do you see yourself in five years?

There's quite an extended back and forth in actual interviews for questions like this, so nothing quite like real practice. The Prepfully Epic Technical Services Engineer experts have actually worked in this role, so they're able to do an honest-to-God accurate mock, which really puts you through the paces. prepfully.com/practice-interviews Less

I asked what os and then I described some of the tools that I would use on Linux and Windows to try and triangulate a possible performance problem and the general approach I would take to try to identify the problem. Is the problem related to resource use on the operating system? Does it possibly relate to a software bug? Less

Through questions like this, interviewers are mostly trying to test your skillset (and its relevance to the role) as robustly as possible, so be prepared for multiple offshoots and followups. It could be a useful exercise to do mocks with friends or colleagues in MongoDB to get a real sense of what the interview is actually like. Alternatively Prepfully has a ton of MongoDB Technical Services Engineer experts who provide mock interviews for a pretty reasonable amount. prepfully.com/practice-interviews Less

At the time I responded at length in detail. Obviously, this is an important technical type of question where the company Regional Manager is attempting to source out your tactical and strategic plans for integrating your career motivations and expertise into a goal oriented success plan for your future starting years in the company. I stated why I valued this technically integrated role in engineering, consulting and sales over simply an engineering position at the time and why I thought my base experiences were the best for this job and where I saw myself in 5 years and how I would get there. I explained how I would excel at the first position I was starting in and how I would make it to the next position I desired at a higher management level in the company within a dynamic window of time. Answer is too focused on you. Should turn it around to indicate what benefit there is to the company with YOU being the Technical Client Consultant and indicate how they, being as wonderful as they are, are important for your growth. Less
