I talked about a student with autism I had that used to spit on me and other paras every time we tried to get him to learn and do work. I explained the many tactics we came up with and tried as a team and the many ways I tried on my own to get his behavior to change. Until we finally came up with a tactic of reward and recoil that got him away from spiting and excited to do work. Less
What is the difference between formative and summative evaluation?

Summative evaluation is meant to assess the amount of student learning at the end of a unit, like a final exam or midterm. Formative evaluation is much more regular and is used by a teacher to change their program to achieve better results. Less

I have one on one tutoring for elementary school age kids for 8 years. I have also been a teacher in an afterschool program planning and supervising enrichment activities, lunch, dismissal, homework completion. I currently sub in special education classes from mild to severe working with 3 other teachers to provide basic learning and care. I have also been a class assistant providing basic academic help and assigning in class jobs Less

I have about 2 years experience working with and taking care of adult disabled and elderly citizens. Both verbal and non verbal. I planned the majority of activities for the the disabled/ elderly to participate in. I also have about 1.5 years of volunteer tutoring experience with special needs children at an elementary school. I mainly worked with kids ages 7-10. I enjoyed it very much so! In my free time I babysit for two 6-7 year olds also! Less
How did you handle a stressful situation on the job?

Ethically, logically, professionally, and later emotionally I was able to get through a number of personally stressful situations and draw upon the experience of other professional to seek advice on best practice and method if I were to encounter similar events in the future to be better equipped and have the best possible outcome. An example of a stressful situation I’ve dealt with is, when I was working at the adult day services I dealt with a young adult individual who always wanted to get her way, and when she wouldn’t get her way she get very upset and start yelling or bothering others. When the individual would act this way I would take her to what we called the ‘sensory’ room which was kind of like a time out room for the clients and I would let her calm down in there and sometimes she would talk to me (which usually calmed her down) and when she was ready we’d go back into the activity.
