I am always motivated by the challenge of a tough situation. As an ER Coordinator, I had a nurse, that happened to be a friend outside of work, lose her cool with a more than difficult patient. I took the time to counsel both the family and the patient and then the nurse. I asked the nurse to apologize for her outburst and treat the patient with dignity. After the nurse and patient calmed down and saw that all parties, including myself, was putting forth effort, the patient became more agreable to the nurses care.
