Honestly, I believe there are insurance salesmen, and there are insurance planners. Insurance salesmen get a bad rap. The reason some come off as desperate and pushy to make the sale is because they are surviving to eat themselves. The problem for these types is that they want the sale more than the client. It has to be the opposite. You must have the ability to act as if making the sale means are indifferent. Planners take a 30,000 foot view at the whole client's situation, zoom in closer to make sure everything fits and flows, and then comes in for the landing to make everything fit and flow. While they do this, planners come across problems with coverage type and amount and errors, and truly begin to educate the client on what is going on. They then educate the client on how the picture "should" look. By then it is in the client's court. Do they want to be in the status quo, or improve.
