What is a Groundskeeper?

As a groundskeeper you will be responsible for maintaining the grounds during all seasons. The range of duties includes lawn care, leaf and snow removal using a variety of tools, equipment and chemicals under the direction of the Head Groundskeeper.

You need to be at least 16 years old at time of hire with 2 years of experience such lawn mowing, preferred. You should be available to work any day of the week between 5 am to 3 pm and be able to operate a variety of equipment and tools as well as lift 20-30 pounds. This is an outdoor position and the groundskeeper must enjoy working outdoors in a variety of temperatures. You need to understand and follow verbal directions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities for Groundskeeper

Follow all safety guidelines for the operation of equipment and chemicals
Daily lawn care to include watering, raking and blowing leaves
Perform regular weeding
Water and seed the lawn as needed
Lawn maintenance to include lawn, shrubbery, flower pots
Perform landscaping duties as directed to include planting, tilling, weeding
Perform snow removal with shovel and other equipment, as needed
Regular custodial work such as debris on walkways and disposing of it in the proper containers

Qualifications for Groundskeeper

Ability to pass a background check
2 years of experience such lawn care or snow removal, preferred
Available to work any day of the week between 5 am to 3 pm
Able to operate a variety of equipment and tools
Able to lift 20-30 pounds
Enjoy working outdoors in a variety of temperatures
Extensive periods of sitting, standing and bending down during shift
Ability to understand verbal directions and closely execute with minimal supervision
Reliable transportation to work location
