I worked at Air Wisconsin Airlines full-time (More than 10 years)
Good entry into the airline industry-travel benefit is OK but hard to count on going when you want to. I worked in Milwaukee at the hangar and had great co-workers Employees really do care about the airline and it's passengers.
You will be working 3rd shift! Working 3rd shift, supervisors rarely see the work we did, hard to get noticed. If a problem surfaced, that is when you got noticed. Promotions are rare and I was overlooked in favor of a less deserving, lower seniority person. So career growth will mean relocation. HQ is 120 miles away and is a tight group not really welcoming to outsiders. My efforts were unsuccessful. union is useless.Rules are selectively enforced. Some employees can get away with a lot, others are targeted. My departure was not my choice.
Advice to Management
In some ways it is run like a company out of the 50s in terms of rules. If you are furloughed or terminated, you are never coming back. that needs to change. The future of the company is never shared and information drips out slowly. There is a great history of 50 years, it would be good to know there are another 50+ years. American has not shown Air Wisconsin the full future.
