Alaska Regional Hospital – Fort Lauderdale, FL

I worked at Alaska Regional Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)
There are some very special people that work there that really care for patients and people. Wish more of the staff were like them.
Constant turnover and outsourcing. Don't get too comfortable because you might get laid off and your job sent to another State or sold to another crappy company with horrible benefits. No management training for supervisors, who mostly are just clinical people with no clue on how to deal with employees. Extreme abusive hostile work environments in the OR, key OR Techs and Nurses are VERY rude and nasty to subordinates, which is allowed and ignored by management because a surgeon really likes them and they might leave if confronted. New CEO seems to genuinely care but in reality is really just a really convincing sales person, bringing in more patients when there isn't the staff to cover the load. Corporate is only interested in profit yet they preach the "healthy work environment". I was getting very ill working there due to the stress and have lost relationships because I never had time or energy outside of work for personal things. Best thing I ever did was leave.
Advice to Management
Administration needs to push back to Corporate to allow proper staffing levels. Consider staff they aren't patient care more, these people matter too. Start dealing with staff that are toxic, you shouldn't go home from work crying everyday. ARH is going to find themselves in lawsuits or in trouble with JC if things don't change...It's that bad. Time to take action!
