I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (More than a year)

Always plenty of work to do and things to learn. Very hands-on, high visibility position. If you enjoy having the job responsibilities of five or six people at the same time, this is the place for you. Lots of travel to Asia (Taiwan mostly).

If you have a wife and kids, look elsewhere. Not enough people to do the work, so nobody has the bandwidth to do a thorough job, let alone share knowledge with peers. Heavily loaded with documentation responsibilities and support for multiple high profile products. Very un-organized work environment with heavy reliance on word of mouth communication.

    Advice to Management

When one person devotes 50% of their time on three different projects, you end up with 150% of that persons time being devoted to three half-assed projects. You don't pay me enough to ignore my family. Oh, and by the way your intranet is a worthless, shameful waste of resources.
