I worked at Banner Health full-time (More than 3 years)
-Banner is a leader in the healthcare field. -I had the best manager I've ever had while a IT Systems Engineer at Banner -Their size allows for interesting and exciting projects to be taken on.
-I found it difficult to be creative and innovative at Banner (in an IT role), mostly due to policy and regulation (internal and external). I know healthcare is heavily regulated in general, but it just became too much. -Their size allows for a lot of bureaucracy and slow movement, even though they still want things done fast.
Advice to Management
You might consider changing your tune of "You have to have a high tolerance for ambiguity and a love of complex things to make it in healthcare" to something more along the lines of "We know healthcare is ambiguous and complex, but we will do everything we can to make it as simple and clear as possible for our employees." The current way of thinking makes it seem like you're embracing complexity and ambiguity, which I never liked.
