I have been working at Bayview Asset Management full-time (More than a year)

Located in Coral Gables. Trolley stop out front provides free transit to and from Coral Way restaurants. The people working here are latin and pretty to look at, fun to work with. They do this cuban coffee thing in a thimble here which gives you a better buzz than cocaine

    1. All throughout my one year tenure here, there have been continuous email outages and brownouts. I have been shocked that no one's head has rolled as a result of this. 2. The business departments have the opinion that IT folk are lesser people and must do what they are told. The problem is that the business people are freaking clueless when it comes to technology requirements. They want what they want, when they want it, often dropping demands on IT last minute, with no planning. Those in IT who have stood up to the business and told them tactfully that their requests were unreasonable have either been vilified, pressured to leave the company, or terminated. 3. IT management is abysmal. From the CIO down. CIO means well, has good goals, but he relies on his lieutenants to interact with the staff as he has no people skills himself. Most of his lieutenants (VPs, directors) are ineffectual and impede the ability of the staff to collaborate, cooperate, and work fluidly because they lose the direction in their daily squabbling and bickering. Most, but not all. Of the 7 or so directors/VPs in IT, 3 are actually effectual and rise above the sophomoric rivalry. The rest do not. 4. IT admins are slaves. You are expected to be on-call all the time, and those who do not answer emails or system down phone calls, leave the company. 5. Their IT systems are crap. Hands down. Now, they recognize this and are trying to correct it...but it is an uphill battle which will take years. 6. Their IT change management system is ludicrous. Their CIO requires that any changes to any production system be approved in the new change management system, installed in 2015. Said system requires an engineer to hunt down 3 VPs for approval (personally) for each change that they initiate with under 7 days of lead time. Referencing #5, their systems are in such need of repair and updating that the additional time requirements to document planned changes, hunt down administration for approval, and execute the changes make improving their systems statistically impossible. A change requiring 15 minutes of actual work requires 1-3 hours of discussion and approvals. 7. (prior points have been IT-specific) Take a look at what this company actually DOES, and how many people hate them (google pissed consumer Bayview) While working here, we have been the target of multiple lawsuits, investigations, audits, and court orders. Beware. 8. The word on the street in Miami about this place is so bad, a lot of the new talent comes from far-off corners of the country...people who have no idea what they're stepping into.

    Advice to Management

to business management: get a new CIO, get new IT middle management, prepare to invest some $$ for the talent you need, prepare to invest some $$ to overhaul your systems
