I have been working at Cancer Research UK full-time (More than 3 years)

You do get a sense of being part of something greater, the work can be fun and you get a lot of freedom to organise your own things.

There's very little support from higher up if you're not already successful - the best shops get significantly more support than the lower down ones, likewise, unless you're massively successful (which often depends on your area rather than your actual abilities) there's never going to be any career progression. It makes me want to leave.

    Advice to Management

You need to seriously consider your existing property leases in some rural towns. There are better locations in many - for example why spend tens of thousands to refit a shop that won't actually significantly increase its profits, when you could move that shop for a slightly greater investment and have a much greater profit increase. Other shops are in amazing locations but seem to be being poorly managed (a recent visit to sheffield appalled me, 2/3 of the stock was stuff that I wouldn't even put on my shop floor and yet it was in an amazing location!), possibly juggling around managers willing to move might be an option. A 'shop-swap' type function, for those willing to move.
