CT uses deceit to acquire new talent. They lie and exaggerate through the training and orientation phase. From there it is downhill. You get lied to as to mileage, directions, and basically all things during a normal trip you'd need to rely on. CT won't pay the shipper to have the loads ready, they will use YOUR drive time to accomplish that. Worst managed company and division I have ever been associated with in over 35 years in the work force. The mother company appears to be right on board with all the deceit as well since the HR folks do absolutely nothing for the employees. These are systemic issues that have been around a long time and with the turnover rate as high as it appears, it doesn't phase them to basically steal money you should have been able to earn. Extremely disappointing. Looking for new opportunities for myself now too....
Advice to Management
1. Quit embellishing the deceit to bring in drivers. Change your business model. 2. Front line managers need to be accessible 24/7 or as long as they have trucks on the road. 3. PAY THE MILEAGE! Your business model is setup up to take advantage of new drivers, whom you know will most like use "safe" routes. Since you govern the trucks at 62, you take away any leverage a driver has to make up time. 4. You say you have new equipment. I know factually that most of your equipment is old, outdated and is in disrepair. Some blame goes directly to Comcar maintenance shops, but even CT's flatbeds are simply junk. 5. Make your drivers your number 1 priority. They have no reason to lie to you if you do. At least then you'll be able to have a more accurate perception of what's actually going on in your company and with the industry in general. 6. You are NOT always right. Climb down off your high-horse and listen, truly LISTEN, to feedback you receive. Knowing the management, you've already rolled your eyes and just proved my point about what I speak of now. Looking down your nose at your employees will at least let you maintain that stellar turnover rate you have going for you now.
