The CEO is extremely kind, and you can tell he wants the company to do well and function as a unit. There are lots of activities planned and company volunteer events (in Newark). They are very open to finding ways to improve and will pay for additional training, tools, or hands on workshops in order or the teams to continue to improve.
The management is handled poorly and there is no real hierarchy, so team members are often confused and frustrated. An office was opened in Austin TX with absolutely no oversight. Since that time people have gone in and out of that office due to poor hiring decisions as well as general unhappiness, and the practices that come from Austin continue to negatively effect the entire company. Communication between teams is abysmal. Nobody is held to the same standards and it results in a lot of wasted energy. Project prioritization is also terrible as we waste a lot of time working on projects that never even see the light of day.
Advice to Management
You are really striving to improve the company culture and it is appreciated. Please get the basics done though, so you don't lose the good people you have working for you. You have strong leaders, cut the crap with the people that are dragging you down and put someone in charge of handling these teams. You don't have the time or know-how to run this all yourself.
