I worked at D3 Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)
There is a wide variety of engineering projects, so you are always learning something new. New customers with their engineering techniques, new areas of an aircraft, etc. The engineers at D3 are some of the best, most talented in the business.
Projects are usually short, as measured in months, so there is never a sense of job security. If the project gets cancelled, people are likely to get laid off unless management can find new work.
Advice to Management
Suggest management look for ways to diversify, perhaps to military or even outside of aerospace if possible. Also, don't forget that your engineers are your business. Treat them like they are your highest value asset, not that they are easily replaced.
