I worked at Defense Engineering full-time
DEI is growing. Moving from a SDVOSB to a large business. Telework opportunities as permitted. Technologically advanced. Good benefits that are affordable, despite changing yearly. Program on-site employees highly regarded and treated very well. Constantly seeking and going after new opportunities to grow the business.
Huge discrepancy with internal equity and no clear path of sight concerning corporate initiatives besides getting new business and the bottom line. Left in dark concerning direction of the company and future growth. Experiencing extreme growing pains as the company moves from small to large. Corporate staff is more focused on the bureaucratic ways of the olden times instead of setting DEI apart and developing talent. Micromanagement runs rampant. Was once run as a family oriented business but now the organizational culture is choking, there is little left. There is no advocate for the employee. Work-life balance non-existent.
Advice to Management
Pay attention to the huge a volume of turnover. There is a reason why people are leaving and that reason is due to DEI losing the humanity in their corporate structure. Set your self apart from the industry so that DEI may be a great place to work, not just somewhere to work. Treat people as valuable and allow them to express themselves and make decisions without fear of recourse. Grow your talent.
