    I have been working at Dignity Health full-time (More than 5 years)


    Dignity health in Henderson Nevada pays significantly better than the other hospitals in the Las Vegas Valley. The nurses are represented by the CNA union.


    Dignity health is a large corporation with most of its' hospitals in California. They are insistent on running EVERY hospital exactly the same. This means that there is no room for customizable care. Nevada does not have the same laws or general way of doing things that California does....this creates multiple problems. The hospital suffers from too many chiefs. I personally have 3 managers to report to....that is just ridiculous. Management is very top heavy and very financially focused, meanwhile there is a complete void of true leadership. The nurses are left to do as they please, as are the physicians. Management does not take the time or the effort to weed out nurses who aren't cutting it, rather they just allow negativity and bad nursing to linger. Over time, the negativity affects the whole pool.

    Advice to Management

    Stop trying to reinvent the wheel with costly new programs and consultants. Stop spending on aesthetics and far fetched plans to fix the brokenness. Get back to the basics of why we do what we do.....taking care of people. New paint, new position titles, and hairbrained ideas are just band aids on a broken system.
