I have been working at Ellie Mae (Less than a year)

I started with Ellie Mae in February 2015 - so, please take my review with a grain of salt - I have yet to find any truly grungy stuff at Ellie Mae, and I have a lot of enthusiasm for the people and company. I have over 25 years of experience working for companies both very large (national well recognized brands) and very small (startups). In the 9 months I've been with the company, I've been continually impressed with the collaboration, genuine concern for employees and customers, and mutual respect everyone shares for each other and for Senior Leadership. But feeling good is just part of the picture. The Executive leadership team has also got their act together, and I don't get any "flippity-floppity' of focus that I've experienced with prior employers. I would have to say that the Executives of Ellie Mae are very clear on our objectives, and the decisions they make and foster have a clear line of connection to our vision and values. Additionally, for any techies considering working for Ellie Mae, I've got to reflect that Ellie Mae has the (correct) perspective that it's highly difficult to if not impossible to have dev/product teams simultaneously focused on existing functionality AND new systems/functionality. I have been highly impressed that we've split the work - having separate teams focused on keeping the existing stuff working (with enhancements), and having other teams focused on the stuff to take us into the cloud and to the next generation of systems. Don't fool yourself - Ellie Mae is a technology leader in the industry, and we have plans to rock the cloud world.

Because we are in a very high growth mode (Q3 revenue was up 61% y/y) there is a lot of work to do and we require a high level of performance and commitment from our employees. Sometimes there is tactical ambiguity because we are moving so fast, so if you don't thrive on change, speed, and going "all in" on solving problems and chasing opportunities - Ellie Mae can feel like a challenging place to work.

    Advice to Management

Stay on the path you have been on. Continue to make smart and thoughtful acquisitions and continue to engage all employees in the process of setting strategy and alignment of initiatives. Stay transparent with respect to articulating the factors that went into making hard decisions and trade-offs of resources. Keep the focus on making sure our culture stays intact as we go through significant growth.
