I worked at Exel (Less than a year)
I am just sick I had no choice but to leave this group to care for an elderly family member on the other side of the country. Exel had a one of a kind relationship with Procter & Gamble when I was with them in the transportation and logistics arena. I cannot speak otherwise for the typical pros and cons of being with Exel. For my division, they were literally the most professional and intelligent managers I've ever worked for in 20 years. I could not believe it. These are not bosses you hate, they are people that leave your jaw open every time you interact with them, and pray never leave your department. You rely on them, which is exceedingly rare for me. They've achieved sincere and rapid progress in their contract against an almost chaotic distribution environment. Competitive Pay. Best benefits I have ever had. Peers were all the most well educated, respectful, and positive co-workers you could ever meet. Realistic expectations and work load. I think it's an amazing place to make your mark and network even if there is technically no guarantee beyond their 5 year contract within P&G North American Physical Distribution.
It doesn't seem fair to fault them for the limits of career advancement this presents but is important to know if you have other options. Likewise, although it seems appropriate for a limited term contract, it is rumored that everyone got the same pay raise after their 1st year of employ, regardless of their workload or level of contribution. I'm sure it's related to the fixed contract length, but it is still a powerful demotivator for getting the most from your employees.
Advice to Management
Consider 1 time cash bonus per significant employee contribution and reward it openly. Consider what compensation would be fair for how far above and beyond an employee is able to contribute.
