Meet with different owners from different industries. If the client accepts the consulting services some consultants are excellent. Others are very questionable. Be able to help your client identify problems in his business. Knwing that you do your job to help not just the owner but his employees.
The list is long, but the the way the senior survey director treats you, screaming at you as if he would talk to an animal was what draw the line. The fact that they cheat you on your pay check is another big problem. I worked for 8 months, bringing into the firm over $700,00.00 and never had an accurate pay check according to my commission schedule. Always defficient; short several hundred dollars, thousands towards the end. They retain part of your earnings in addition to your taxes and you will never get an answer as of why. I contacted four other analysts and they all noticed that but they don't seem to care. I do. I did work for that money and it is mine. So I have presented everything to my attorney along with more than 50 recorded phone conversations where verbal abuse, undermining your work, threats, diversion, projection of blame... and the list goes. We have also presented a formal complain with the labor department, who is in possession now of a copy of my contract with the commission scale and copies of my pay stubs and the mentioned recordings (possible class action suit). They have the worst sales department I have ever come accross. Most of them are walking lies that force you to clean their lies. The analysis that you perform is as good as you know what you are doing, but you are forced by your director to lie and exagerate the problem(s) the client might have and to load the client with uncessary consulting hours. Low Per Diem. Owner and company's reputation is so bad that, in this world of technology a simple Google search on John Burgess or GR brings an ocean of reasons not to retain consulting services (even if these services are good). If the SBA would be allowed to follow up with his work and also build his personal pipe line of clients instead of forcing them, the company would have more clients and better results. But often you are instructed to push the client on taking a decision based on fear rather than reality. And this is after you are telling the client how important is to take decisions based on information and not on feelings. Expenses are a lot higher than your per diem. So if you do not get a good deal of consulting hours you will loose a lot of money. And if you make money they will cheat you on your wages. I regreat every day I was there. I wanted to believe in them. Finally I found an honest firm where they treat me with respect and the pay check is real and completed.
Advice to Management
Use your own consultants to fix your company. Clean your sales department from compulsive liars and managers that believe that results come from screaming like apes. You pee on the employees that are your bread and butter. But you don't care. All you managers care is your own paycheck and the way you treat the SBA makes me question if you sleep at night. But you probably do becasue your ethics have degenerate to such a low level that what it is unethical to you is just normal. You don't care about what really happens on the field. If you would care you would listen to your SBAs' when they tell you about the status and situation of the client. And the prove I am right is that in my first 6 weeks in this new firm I have produced in cash sales and consulting services more than half of what I produced in 7 months for you. And the job is exactly the same. The only difference is morals, ethics and real communication.
