I have been working at H.T. Harvey & Associates full-time
This company has some great people and some very skilled and intelligent scientists and professionals and most have good people skills on top of that. They are open to new ideas for business development. A lot of the projects are interesting and projects that are exciting such as renewable energy development. The benefits are good and the 401K match is great! They are flexible with schedules and compassionate when their employees are going through tough times.
The company seems to be caught between trying to maintain a small company feel but wanting to be a big company. The benchmarks for advancement are unclear even when one requests that they be defined and it is difficult to understand what will or will not lead to a promotion. The company spreads itself I a little thin and has inconsistent priorities. Also, they want you to work long hours, but the incentive system doesn't make any sense. If I am going to work over 40 hours, then I should get more pay per hour beyond that not less which is what their "bonus" system comes down to.
Advice to Management
Get a better incentive system that truly rewards people for working longer hours. Provide more transparent guidelines for advancement. Provide more training opportunities.
