I worked at HCL Technologies (More than a year)
They seem to really want to give employees opportunities to grow, with lots of career assessment and education tools. They are a large SW contract house, and depending on where you live there could be lots of opportunities.
My situation is from when Alcatel-Lucent sold off CDMA work to HCL. It is hard to know whether they deliberately mislead us about future opportunities, or whether it was unexpected on their part. The process to notify employees about contracts ending kept changing and rarely matched the process described. They are very bad with communication for things that matter. There is a daily employee newsletter centered around activities in India, but try to find out about things happening locally, including things like contract opportunities, benefit changes or payment information can be very difficult. Company tools are buggy and awkward to use, and getting answers to questions can be very difficult. Contract openings posted are often incorrect, making finding a new position very difficult. Very frustrating.
Advice to Management
Fix the tools, and start really communicating to employees here in the US. There is a big gap between intentions and accomplishments from managers. Promises made to employees should be kept.
