I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)
Great co-workers willing to drop what they are doing to help you finish your deals. Fun deals to work and you will learn a lot. Loved working the outsourcing deals. Very decent benefits and people really seem to care. Management is helpful but control every little thing. Travel is a nightmare if you have to travel. Too many forms and process levels to go through.
Pay, Pay! Lack of pay. No bonus money ever paid, margins on deals cut below minimum. You work many deals at a time and expect long hours and weekend work to compete them. Tools used for basic deal pricing are okay but they need a complete work over to become user friendly. Does not matter how much effort you put in or what your year end review is, doubtful to get any pay raise unless you are extremely underpaid. Mgmt penny pinches everything
Advice to Management
Trust your people! Pay bonus's out to employees. Raise employees pay! Cut back on stupid deals we go after. Meg seems out of her comfort zone and is not the best for HP in long term (IMHO). Give employees time for education and work-life balance.
