I worked at International Rectifier full-time (More than 5 years)
- Somewhat family culture, although that was in the decline the years I worked there - A lot of history and a lot of power electronics and semiconductor knowledge to learn from. - Somewhat stable, people have worked there for 10+ years - Flexible hours, no micromanagement
- Since the last CEO came on it was obvious he was just trying to optimize the company to make it look good on the books to sell. This meant almost all benefits and perks were slowly cut. - No growth or investment in engineering or technology development or equipment - Layoffs almost every years for the past five years - Engineers are very unhappy generally - Politics - Upper management has no interest in the little guys, have no clue who works hard and who doesn't - No perks at all, no team-building activities - Hiding of information from others, teamwork not encouraged
Advice to Management
Maybe instead of focusing for so many years on how to make the company look good to sell so you can cash out on the hard work of others, you should have invested in the people who worked so hard to make the company what it is and support the local community of which the company provides the means of employment to. Instead, the top management only looked after the interests of their shareholders to make a few people very wealthy and subsequently destroyed the company by not investing in technology and engineering during that time.
