I have been working at John Deere full-time (More than 5 years)

Excellent pay and benefits. Being a large company, upper management is still corporate, but they are well managed and open to allowing employees to self organize and try new things. They work hard to keep employee morale up. During the past recession they made necessary cuts to projects and contract employees in order to keep the company healthy. Supervisors regularly meet with employees to assess how they are doing and find ways to help them succeed. Facilities/equipment are safe and well maintained.

Deere is maintaining jobs in North America, but is expanding into India and China. If you're a white collar worker, expect to work increasingly with other employees in those countries. That means you may need to shift your hours to work early or late to have meetings with other time zones and communicate with employees with thick accents. While I love living in the Midwest, it may not appeal to everyone. Work locations are generally located in small to medium sized cities.
