I worked at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory as an intern (Less than a year)
Interesting work. I got to work on a project involving tracking missiles using machine learning (more specifically Kalman filtering). Very math heavy and definitely learned a lot.
The atmosphere is a bit too relaxed, and it seems that everything moves too slowly. Also, the teams on some projects are really large, and makes it seem difficult to really make an impact. The interns don't really get to meet too many other interns and at times it gets boring.
