LUSH North America – Salt Lake City, UT
There are four positions in the LUSH Shop: Shop Manager, Manager–in–Training (for mid–high volume shops), Floor Leader, and Sales Ambassador. We work… LUSH North America
I have been working at LUSH North America part-time (More than a year)
Wonderful environment and products. The company's values and ethics make up for the sales context. Excellent training in selling, natural ingredients and customer service. Opportunity for development in several areas including charity work, event organizing, management, coaching, visuals, eco-business, public speaking and leadership.
Low pay. Lush expects a great deal from its employees and talks a good game about fair wages, but it is difficult to make a living at this job unless one plans to go into management or training positions. Goals to earn bonuses are high and only achievable with an intense focus on numbers that sometimes feels like it takes away from the company values. They will cut hours at a moment's notice making it unreliable. They expect a certain amount of open availability, but do not guarantee any number of hours.
Advice to Management
Consider hiring a balance of people who want more and less hours to meet the employees needs as well as those of the business. The base pay has recently been raised to $10, but that still feels low for a job where employees are "the ambassadors of the brand" and expected to give body treatments, have tremendous product knowledge and volunteer in their spare time.
