Co-victims who often happen to be smart and awesome
Oh, where do I start? I am so grateful that I worked here pretty early on in my career. This is where I learned so many things that enrich my personhood and professional life: about how NOT to run a company, how NOT to treat your employees, how to spectacularly fail at delivering on behalf of a noble mission, how utterly incapable the NIH is in judging the substance of a grant, how to wrangle together a group of super-intelligent, motivated, social justice-minded people who like working with each other and manage to achieve absolutely nothing due to an absolutely directionless and narcissistic management. Seriously, there's a reason former employees bond so tightly for many years after leaving this place -- shared PTSD.
