I have been working at Liferay full-time (More than 3 years)
1. Great work life balance. I seldom ever have to take work home with me. This has allowed me to remain involved with activities outside of work that I care a lot about. 2. High priority on family. Liferay makes employees' families a priority and really seeks to be accommodating so that it doesn't ask so much of employees that they never get to spend time with their families. Something the founder has always mentioned was that he didn't want Liferay to destroy families. 3. Great environment. I love the people I work with. People are friendly and helpful. No one is out to get you. Liferay promotes teamwork and camaraderie, and people are encouraged to share their ideas with one another. Many of my coworkers are now my friends. 4. Employee Volunteer Program. Each employee gets 5 paid days specifically to do volunteer work. Liferay highly encourages employees to take advantage of this. It's also awesome to see an employer that really cares about the community and helping those in need not only locally but around the world. 5. Laid back dress code. I go to work in a tshirt and jeans. Some wear shorts and flip flops. I'm very thankful to Liferay for taking a chance on me although I came from a different background. I feel very blessed to be able to work at a company where I can really get behind the vision and values of the leaders.
1. Compensation. It's not horrible by any means, but it's below market average. I do believe though that for the people who are really just in it for the money, no amount of pay will satisfy them, as there will always be something to complain about however much you're being paid. With Liferay, at this point it's really up to each person whether or not they feel that the benefits and work environment make up for the lower compensation.
Advice to Management
1. Stay true to the core values of Liferay. Continue seeking to make an impact in the community. Continue being humble and accepting feedback. 2. Continue sharing with the employees the vision and core values of Liferay and sharing with us what Liferay is doing
