I have been working at London Health Sciences Centre full-time (More than 8 years)
Good group of physicians, nurses, NP's, etc. who are all dedicated to quality patient care. Attempting to be innovative and on the cutting edge of new health care strategies and technology
Somewhat administration heavy, need to do a clean sweep of under-performing staff to help get budget under control. There are things that simply don't make sense i.e. making people wait in a coffee line for 20 minutes, when they could be served, and back to work in 5 if they cafeteria was staffed appropriately. You have the most highly paid staff being served by some of the lowest paid staff but they are totally understaffed - huge waste of time and money on the hospitals part! Getting into management is impossible without knowing the right people, many times it does not appear to be performance or merit based, simply who you know and are friends with.
Advice to Management
Provide adequate funding for projects before agreeing to do them. If needed start more rigorous reviews of staff and their contributions. I have personally seen many people shuffled from job to job as opposed to being let go due to bad performance - while projects suffer understaffing and fail or are run poorly due to it.
