I worked at McNeil Consumer Healthcare as a contractor (Less than a year)
Fair to good work environment. Contract workers are treated for the most part as equals to McNeil employees, maybe because it seems that nearly 60% of the employees are contract. Great opportunity to learn and practice analytical method validation. Colleagues are supportive and very helpful.
Contract employment have no opportunities for advancement unless given full-time status. Safety training is increasingly burdensome and non-selective to the work you actually do. Contract employee have no recourse when trying to advocate for themselves to upper management.
Advice to Management
Upper Management should extend second tier interviews with contract employee too, not just McNeil employees. They make up 60% of the work force-Listen to them. Upper Management should provide an open door policy for contract employee to voice their concerns and allow them the opportunity to advocate for themselves in times of conflict or misunderstandings.
