I have been working at Medical Staffing Network full-time
- benefits are pretty decent/typical - 401 k plan (but you have to work there for three years for matching) - somewhat flexible regarding work attire - I like the job itself
- working at a small branch under a corporate umbrella, I feel like they only know what's happening on the east coast, and that the msn branches are forgotten. Base Pay - below average, all across the board. Monthly bonuses dont even help with that, because even if you meet the requirements, you don't get September bonus until November...and it's not very much - office environment is not healthy. I would think a branch manager would be the one providing motivation for the team to work hard, and have a "go get Em" attitude, and say good Morning....but it's so rare. We all come to work, sit in silence, do our separate jobs. There's no sense of teamwork or cohesive environment. Along with this, the office is very small. It's awkward when the branch manager has worked a long time with one team member but not the rest of us. It's pretty clear when they whisper at each other's desks or go into the conference room to whisper! Please at least have he decency to close the door. Frustrating to feel like you're in junior high, when you ask what's going on, and they're like, "nothing."
Advice to Management
Please think about creating a survey and training managers on how to effectively manage and be fair and sensitive to all employees. There's no one to go. I've tried speaking with my manager, but it's impossible. I want to be cross trained and learn more, and nothing has happened. There's no room for growth, no job fairs, no teamwork....the only time the job is okay is when the VP visits. I wish the VP was there everyday. Employees leave because of low pay, lack of appreciation, lack of incentive, and co-workers that just don't care to be there. I'm a high achiever and have proved that continuously ever month, and I really can't take this anymore. I would appreciate an anonymous survey so you can really understand how each branch operates. The branch is so small that if I say something, I feel like it will just make every day worse for me and nothing will change. I am at the point where I come to work feeling great and as soon as I get there, I get brought down. While I'm writing so much - if it's okay for a branch manager to take a sick day/work from home, why can't we allow this for other employees? I'm actually pretty annoyed because my manager has not only come in sick when he/she should probably stay home - but also brings in the sick kids. Thanks for that. I really like having extra germs in a room with no windows or fresh air. I'm so happy that I have to use my sick days to be sick, but that the coming to work sick and sleeping in the conference room is okay if you're the manager.
