-Reasonably good pay and conditions. -Equal opportunity employer. -Good people to work with up to the Product Manager level. -Very good products -Treats customers honestly and ethically.
-No loyalty to employees at all. -No management flair. -Impersonal management. -To go from such a wonderful culture and can-do attitude to this poisonous mix in such a short time is heartbreaking
Advice to Management
-Cutting costs(sacking) is only one tool of management, not the only tool of management. -Getting rid of a hard working Engineer or Salesman with 20 years experience in the company who is bringing in good money simply because you "must reduce headcount by X people" is idiotic, you cannot replace them when conditions improve and thus you can't capitalize on the peak that always follows. -Look at the market, analyze what it is doing and try to to make a decision 6-12-24 months in advance, don't just default to "it will be terrible sack people" Use the booming divisions to prop up those in a bust, don't kill them, as booms turn to busts and busts turn to booms, and you are then left with nothing. -At the very least once the market is clearly improving stop the slash and burn.
