You aren't guaranteed your requested off days. Night shift has to stay over 5 out of 7 days of the week due to call offs and poor scheduling. The rules and regulations vary from nurse to nurse and shift to shift.

Try to keep the schedule full in case someone calls in. It's better to have to send someone home than the previous shift always staying over.
