    I have been working at Needle as a contractor (More than a year)


    You can pick your own hours, you earn points for free gear for the company you contract with. You can also earn points for other fun things like Kindle, ipads, xbox, etc. The other chat agents are for the most part really awesome and fun people to work with. Working from home is also a huge bonus.


    Needle touts itself as "fansourcing", meaning taking super fans of a company or brand and having them chat with customers about the product. However, just because someone loves a particular brand does not make them an automatic sales person, nor does it make them awesome customer service agents. The idea is sound, but there is extremely poor communication from management to the Needlers (contractors). Also, there are many falsehoods told to Needlers as well. After working there for nearly two years, when the company dropped Needle as a chat support provider, displaced Needlers were told they would be given priority for new opportunities, and that has not happened. Nor has there ever been information given about that or any thing else. Emails to anyone at the main offices are not answered on any subject. The level of customer service Needle wants given in chat to the companies they contract with should be the same level or higher that Needle gives to their contractors/Needlers. If you are looking for a company who values you as an employee and wants you to grow with them, Needle is NOT it.

    Advice to Management

    In order to be successful and not lose companies/contracts as you have, it is important to give consistent detailed communication with the people on your front line, the Needlers. They are the face of the brand they chat for, the face of Needle itself. Creating and fostering loyalty f Needlers for Needle itself will keep your company going and your existing and future contracts with different companies/retailers sustained and viable. Being forthcoming with information on a more timely basis and NOT just saying what you think the Needlers want to hear will also perpetuate loyalty and longevity. Investing time and money in contractors who are superior sales and customer service people and then just letting them drop to the wayside is poor business management. Bringing on new inexperienced people in lieu of your seasoned contractors is wasting time and money.
