I worked at NetScout Systems as a contractor (More than a year)
-Large company with lots of room for improvement -Flexible and dynamic work environment -Friendly employees and approachable management
-Strong barriers between departments and between office locations. Painfully political environment. -Long-standing company, but progress can be slow for no reason, improvements to meet with modern industry standards are overlooked for outdated processes. -Onboarding as an employee can be vague and directionless, with no room to ask questions. -Cooperation between different organizations is spotty at best and covertly self-serving at worst.
Advice to Management
-Look around you for guidance as to where the industry is going. Don't get left behind! -Don't get locked into SOP. Departmental procedures should trickle down from executive direction, not managerial power-grabbing. -Things work better, faster, and more effectively when everyone affected by a decision have a say. The initial planning sessions smooth the way for immediate progress. -Don't let go of your talent. Many valuable employees have been fired or drawn away by other companies because of a lack of direction, ambition, or feedback from the management layer down.
