The up side is the ability to run your route as you see fit without a ton of direct oversight. The trick is to settle in and not show to much will to do extra or you'll be quickly overloaded. There is a decent vacation system, a matching 401k program and a fair to midland health care program. Although the medical is prohibitively expensive for people with families the first year or so.
This company has a lack of leadership problem. There is little to no acountability to drivers to pull their weight and the drivers that do go above and beyond are only rewarded with more work. Also there is an enormous gap between the front office, route operations and the warehouse. It's a social and economical gap that is weighted in favor of management with the the other departments treated like second rate citizens. Picture a turn of the centry cruse liner with the upper crust on the lido deck with cocktails while the rest of us are near the boilers with the rats. Yet they don't realize this ocean liner isn't going anywhere if the lower class stops shoving coal into the boilers.
Advice to Management
The disparity between the departments needs to be addressed. Pay for the hourly employees is begining to fall incredibly short and the quality employees are leaving and the quality new ones won't look twice.
