I worked at Ofgem full-time (More than 3 years)

You develop a lot, as there is a huge amount of projects to work on, typically with a significant impact on consumers and the UK economy. You are at the forefront of economic regulation - every other regulator in the UK and across the world looks up to Ofgem. People are typically highly skilled, motivated to do a good job, and generally friendly

The workload can feel exhausting and never-ending. Pay is pretty poor compared to how much value you add. When I was there, personal politics at senior management level sometimes got in the way of "doing the right thing" and often resulted in an additional workload for staff.
