I have been working at On Board Engineering full-time
The fact that I had a job.
Company is trying to grow to quickly and doesn't know what they are doing with the contracts they do have. It is embarrassing to work for a company that has no idea how to do the minimum requirements for it's clients. No true focus, it is all about getting the job and then not knowing what to do once they have it. This review is not only for Engineering but for the entire family of On-Board Services and PMO sites. This is a family owned and operated business and instead of hiring competent people they hire family and family friends that dictate a very bad business plan. it is a shame, the owner is very nice and genuinely wants to succeed the right way but he is getting terrible advise from the family and friends that he has placed.
Advice to Management
Before taking a client make sure you have a full understanding of the requirements they expect. Have a real plan before taking the contract and always have procedures in place to handle such demands. Going in with a "We'll take it as it comes" attitude with be the demise of this company. Unfortunately this one is going to hurt - you really need to get rid of some of your friends and family that are currently working there, they are in a lot of cases ill prepared to handle the tasks at hand and are taking the company in a direction that will be very difficult to come back from.
