I worked at PEP full-time (More than 3 years)

-Decent Health, Dental, Vision -Profit Sharing is essentially free money into your retirement account -Free parking, great downtown location -Fairly easy work. There's a large volume, but it's not terribly difficult -Good job security. The company has had positive growth for the past 10+ years -12.5 company holidays, 10 paid days off, unlimited sick days -company sponsored happy hour during work hours one Friday each month -Work From Home once a month after being with the company for a year -Very good training/on-boarding. They will make sure you're well equipped to do your job and that you know what you are doing -Pep puts a lot of effort into creating an inclusive workplace. It's generally a warm and inviting group...very comfortable and pleasant environment -Fantastic work/life balance. You will rarely (if ever) work more than 8 hours a day/40 hours per week.

-the work you will be doing is simply the less glamorous tasks of a marketing specialist at the client you service. The clients don't actually believe that anyone at Pep is valuable for their mind or expertise. You're just a data entry specialist -the company says it does project management, but if Pep employees who actually become certified Project Managers will tell you that their job functions are the antithesis of project management. Most of them leave the company shortly after -The pay is very poor. I've heard of people having to live with multiple room mates or get 2nd jobs in order to afford their rents on Pep salaries. -If you think you'll be doing any marketing think again. You will be servicing a marketing client...you will not do any sort of strategy or consultation. You'll be managing purchase orders and vendors and documenting timelines/budget information into a proprietary system called PepConnect. You will never use PepConnect at any other job in the future and you're basically wasting your time learning how to use it. Go to a company that uses a more well known CRM -Senior Leadership is inexperienced and has a warped view of reality. Many of the leaders/supervisors/managers have never worked anywhere but Pep and they've been brainwashed to Pep's corporate culture. There are some leaders who have less than 3 years of work experience that are supervising entire teams. This is a very common practice at Pep. -Leadership will blame employees for their poorly managed transitions. They will hastily move employees from team to team and then place blame when the transitions are not smooth. -There's a high turnover rate. Especially in the last few months...every week a couple people leave. (this contributes to all the poor transitions) -Promotions are based on your popularity or how big of a "cheerleader" your are for the company. Promotions are not based on merit, knowledge, or skill. -If you want a real project management job outside of Pep it will be very difficult to demonstrate you have the skills needed for the job. Very few of the "promotion types" you'll work on at Pep will fit into the 5 process groups of Project Management according to PMI. You'll have to embellish your experience to make it sound like you did anything close to true project management. If you consider yourself intelligent and desire to have a successful or noteworthy career do not work at Pep. This place is not worth your time

    Advice to Management

Stop feeding your employees the lie that Pep has the best project managers in the world. Most of the people working there have less than 5 years of experience and they pay is far from what a world class project manager would ever accept. Manage employees expectations of the job they will actually be doing which is billing management, data entry, and overall client services. Be more open & authentic. People are tired of how fake management is. Reward those who actually add value to your organization through their work instead of through brown nosing.
