I worked at Picture People part-time (More than a year)
Fast-paced, always busy. Cute kids!
The schedule doesn't matter. You come in when you're scheduled and you go home when you're told, most times no where close to the time you were scheduled until. The amount of stress is unreal. Everything has to be done so quickly and perfectly or it's not good enough. There is a strict structure that must be followed when in the camera room that wouldn't normally happen in a private photography setting. Props are almost never cleaned. There is an unreal selling standard. You have to have an average daily sale of over $100, but then the company sends out Groupons that are only $16. How is anyone supposed to work with that? People are not trained fast enough, so the untrained workers are there for two hours while everyone else is there for twelve. Prices are always changing and it's hard to keep up. Customers will get angry because the price-change happened literally overnight.
Advice to Management
Understand that your employees have lives too. If you are that understaffed, please hire more people, especially when your high school/ college students are trying to balance homework and 12 hour shifts on Saturday. Not every customer walks in with $100. "Star-Searching" ins't helping anyone. TRAIN THE NEW PEOPLE EFFICIANTLY
