The global VP for HR has indicated that Praxair is moving from a paternalistic organization to a performance based organization; unfortunately; Praxair is committed to benchmarking the pay scale to the 50%. Poor sucession planning. some key mid-level jobs have the same names against them. Management seems to look at career progression as an after thought.

Improve your soft skills! Senior management relies heavily their financial acumen, but does not particularly value individual employee effort. As the CFO stated in his comment to a employee forum, "I don't know what leaderhip is!"
