I worked at Skechers U.S.A. part-time (More than a year)
I never thought I would enjoy working in the shoe side of retail sales, but I did. Great team, commission and base pay was offered in the malls, but NOT cut-throat. Got transferred to Warehouse where I learned even more. Management is down to earth and accommodating to your needs as best as they can be, and many are well-versed in fashion, so stay on top of current trends in order to best help customers.
Upon transfer however, I didn't get an adjustment in my pay to compensate for my loss in the commission I would have earned at the mall. My pay as an assistant manager was cut drastically.
Advice to Management
Would be great if District Management took more time to spend one on one with middle-management and associates to decipher future goals. SOME of us have extensive resumes in sales and would have loved more opportunities to go beyond the store level.
