I have been working at Smith's Food & Drug full-time (More than 8 years)

Decent pay for those in college or for those who don't have anything higher than a high school education. Opportunities to move up, but I'd recommend working for a high volume store if that's what you're looking to do. Everyone seems to love their benefits, they seems more than fair to me.

Working in a smaller store, the opportunities to advance in the company are limited, Also, store management is minimal and can go unchecked, if you don't get along or see eye to eye with someone higher up, you're done for. I've also noticed a lot of really lazy people who have just accepted that they aren't going to do anything bigger with their lives, so they do the minimum and pin the stress on those whose hours they control.

    Advice to Management

Give some more love to your smaller stores. I know they don't turn the same types of profits, but they are big parts of communities and the community can always tell when things aren't going well at their small, family friendly stores.
