I worked at Southco full-time (More than 5 years)

    There were some nice people.

Micromanaging to a level I haven't ever seen. When an officer of the company is on the shop floor asking employees how their doing things and why, it makes you wonder why you need a team lead, supervisor, manager, operations manager and regional director in between you and them. Southco is a very very very lean company and yet they somehow seem to have too many layers. Theres way too much work to be done at the lower levels, but we have three people telling us the same thing all the time from "up top". I had a week where I had 5 meetings about the exact same thing with 5 different "leaders". I felt like a broken record. And it was a huge waste of time. If I hadn't already known I was quitting, I would have lost it. People have been promoted too quickly and don't know how to do their jobs. There is little to no training and the HR team has no idea how to train when they do it. Good people are running out the door because they want development and aren't getting any. Online classes are nice, but if I'm given no time to take the class it's pretty much another waste of monies. I'm happy to say I've taken another job and in the couple weeks I've been gone I feel like my health (mental and physical) have both improved, even though I took a more demanding job.

    Advice to Management

Let your people do their jobs. Stop moving people up then knocking them down. Train your leaders. Stop focusing so much on touchpoint and remember who got you here.
