I worked at St. Joseph Health System full-time

Large stable healthcare system. The nuns were very nice (with few exceptions). Benefits (401k, healthcare)

I should have known what I was in for when I went in for my interview and they were playing Rush Limbaugh in the lobby. Though most of the nuns were very nice to work with, there were a few that were very nasty. The people that are attracted to work in this type of organization are righteous and are not accepting of gay/lesbian people and can be difficult to work with. You learn to build a wall between work-life and home-life and you DO NOT share home-life at work. Management goes the extra mile to let you know they are in charge and in control of your life. They use the old fear and intimidation tactics rather than helping you to achieve your goals (move you to the worst cubicles, load you down with work rather than getting you the tools you need to perform your duties). Every meeting starts off with a prayer and a reflection. This takes about 10 minutes per meeting. If you have 3 meetings in a day; there goes a half hour of productivity. They have a high turnover rate (at least in IT). People tend to stay just long enough to find a more accepting, friendlier place to work. Very low 401k matching rate (4%) and you must wait one year to participate. Very small, tight cubes just large enough to roll a chair into. Very noisy environment with constant overhead paging and high density work areas (at the Orangewood office). They use a lot of contractors that are not treated equally (treated lower than staff and not allowed to participate in employee events).

    Advice to Management

Clean house. Take some courses from the Studer Group to learn how to work with your employees, not against them. Maybe then you can be named one of the best places to work in 2016
