I worked at State Street Global Advisors full-time (More than 3 years)
I had a great time. Everyone that I worked with had a great personality in their own unique way. Even when issues would arise, we would easily resolve them among ourselves. The people I worked with here were among the most professional people I've ever worked with in my life. This professionalism still models my expectations at other companies to this day. The processes and architectures also model my expectations in my trade and some I still find effective in my work playbook. It is a big company and for the most part the people that I would come across on all levels seemed intelligent, professional, and supportive. Work was comfortable and managers were very supportive. I never had to work extra hours here. I did find my work interesting and I learned a lot here. I found the work that other people in other departments were doing, very interesting as well. The office was incredible and the work environments were pristine.
* No opportunities to grow; however, this job did help me climb the ladder to where I am today. * The layoffs, beware of these. * Seen the company having issues with star employees after their departure whether by will or laid off. You won't like being caught in this position.
Advice to Management
Advertise career opportunities to current employees. Facilitate current employees' abilities to switch positions if they desire it. Support them in moving around the company because this company has a lot of different roles. I find this crucial especially as time goes on and the bell tolls for certain positions/jobs but not necessarily the person.
