The work you do adds value to the lives of many who will never know you but will appreciate you for life. Good co-workers who take their jobs seriously but also enjoy each other's company.
No way to make it to full compensation in a career. Raises are few and far between while employees are expected to make up resource shortages by taking on additional work. No career path. New employees are hired and promoted quickly while lifers are passed over.
Advice to Management
Bringing in and promoting new hires while offering career staff no opportunities or raises is a slap in the face. Your constant entreaties of "We appreciate you" ring hollow. Put the budget where your mouth is, give your longtime staff the same opportunities for training and promotion offered to newcomers. Maybe they will actually stick around long enough to see a return on the investment.
