I worked at TXU Energy full-time (Less than a year)

The bonuses are great & there are alot of employee events to bring individuals together. I made some great connections and some lifelong friends.

No work life balance, TONS of office politics (this is the most political place that i've EVER worked), no sick leave- your PTO is your sick leave and your personal time off (in which you only get two weeks, unless they negotiate and approve before you start), and alot of micro managing. Not alot of growth in the company unless you know someone- otherwise, you could be stuck in your position without any room to grow. Also, this company tends to bring in individuals who are over - qualified and put them in lower level positions with low pay. Not alot of room to grow for college educated individuals w/ experience who are looking to get into management because it's all on who you know and not your education, years of experience and accomplishments. No opportunity for minorities whatsoever. There is also no option to work from home- they despise that.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro managing and promoting your friends. Promote based off of qualifications and education. Create growth initiatives for individuals within the company. There are individuals there with advanced degrees who are in entry level roles and who deserve to be at higher levels/grades. Add an actual work like balance and create sick leave. Give flexible work schedules, allow some departments to work from home- even if it's two days a week. Promote individuals and stop putting them in roles which they are over-qualified.
