TCS America – Dallas, TX
• Ability to be part of Production Support Team providing front line technical solutions, Release/deployment support, Project Governance and related… TheLadders.com
The workers and work environment drives excellence through the employees. Massive amounts of technology trainings and domain trainings are available and I strongly suggest taking advantage of these. Working with TCS is an excellent career choice directly out of college as they mass recruit college grads with ANY type of degree.
Poor management and leadership. Management expects you to be billable, but explains its not your fault or your job to find a project. Over 1 month on bench = fired. No such thing as a promotion until being with the company for 5+ years. Raises are minimal. Lower pay than competitors. Work hours constantly changing. Relocation is a must, even if you just relocated to the TCS office a month prior.
Advice to Management
My advice to management would be to value your current employees rather than focus on the next batch of 60+ fresh brains every month that are mass hired. Create semi-leadership positions so more experienced employees do not feel like a fresher. In technical interviews, ask technical questions -- riddles do not indicate intelligence. Also in interviews, be clear with the interviewee that you WILL most likely have to relocate at some point. Too many times have I heard of employees moving from California to Cincinnati and two months later be asked to move to Florida or another part of the country.
